Street style blogs - are you sick of them yet?

There has been a huge debate for ages now about street style bloggers. Do they create monsters or help us to get a better understanding of style?

As a blogger, I am surprisingly against street style blogging. I think it does make monsters. I am so sick of seeing fashion week displays where you get crowds of people hanging around in strange outfits just to get photographed.

There are people who have successfully launched careers off the backs of their street style blogs but there is a part of me that finds it self indulgent and stuck up. I post the occasional outfit post - not because I like doing it but I feel its expected of me. I like sharing with you guys, but I feel self conscious in front of the camera lens. I prefer to be behind it.

However, there is something so self obsessed about the crowds of teenagers that push themselves forward to be street style experts. A lot of the time the clothing choices presented are ill matched, clashing and badly fitting. There are notable exceptions of course but most of the time it comes neatly wrapped in a 'look at me!' package.

I think a large part of this crazy photo blogging stuff has come from our need to have instant gratification by way of facebook and twitter. We post our thoughts and they are instantly validated by one of our friends. It becomes a way to get recognition.

Or maybe I am missing out?!?! I don't know.....maybe this is an excuse to get out of doing more outfit posts!!!
